Bicycle and train

Information about taking your bike on a rail trip in Europe.

There is no special rail pass available for taking your bicycle with you across Europe. E.g. for single train tickets, you have to buy an extra bicycle-ticket for every train or railway company you use.
In some trains, bicycle transport is restricted or not possible. Especially in high speed trains.
Please inform yourself by aksing the railway company you will use. You will have to purchase your tickets there as well.

Folding bikes are recommended. They are lightweight and can be folded and stowed in a bag. Then you can carry them with you like a normal suitcase. No extra ticket is required anymore.
