The EuRail pass is only available for non-European citizens. European citizens have to travel by an InterRail pass.
The following persons are allowed to buy a EuRail pass and to travel by EuRail.
- Non-European residents who can prove their place of residence outside of Europe (see country list) by producing a passport.
- European citizens who have lived in a non-European country (see country list on the right) for at least the past 6 months. You will have to prove your non-European place of residence by producing an official document such as a visa or a residence permit.
You do not need to have completed these 6 months on the date of your purchase of the EuRail pass, but at the first day of its validity.
You can buy a EuRail Pass if you have had your permanent place of residence in one of the following non-European countries for the past 6 months.
If this doesn't apply to you, you will have to buy an InterRail pass.
If you do not have a passport issued by one of the countries listed above, you will have to prove your place of residence by producing a visa or residence permit.
