The InterRail pass is valid for trains of the national railway companies of the participating countries as well as for several private rail companies:
Validity 
InterRail is valid only for persons who meet all the criteria listed in the yellow box.
Some high speed and special trains require a reservation or additional charge. Here you will find information on how to avoid these extra fees.
Reservation and supplement 
Your country of residence is not included in the InterRail pass. You only get a discount on regular fare tickets.:

Night train 
The "7 p.m. rule" for night trains helps you save travel days when using an InterRail pass with flexible travel days:
"7 p.m. rule" for night trains 
ONE travel day lasts from 00:01 a.m. until 23:59 p.m. You can use as many trains and cross as many country borders as you want during one travel day.
If you travel with a Flexi Pass (XX travel days within a time frame of YY days) write down your travel days on your ticket whenever you use one. You only fix the starting date of your pass at the purchase.
