The InterRail pass is valid for trains of the national railway companies of the participating countries as well as for several private rail companies:

InterRail is valid only for persons who meet all the criteria listed in the yellow box.

Some high speed and special trains require a reservation or additional charge. Here you will find information on how to avoid these extra fees.

Reservation and supplement

There is no discount for train rides from your country of residence to the country your InterRail One Country Pass is valid for or for transfers between non-adjacent countries of InterRail ONE Country passes. If you travel to several countries using ONE Country Passes on one day, you have to count one travel day for each of the countries.

The InterRail ONE Country Pass can not be purchased for your own country of residence:

The "7 p.m. rule" for night trains helps you save travel days when using an InterRail pass with flexible travel days:

"7 p.m. rule" for night trains

ONE travel day lasts from 00:01 a.m. until 23:59 p.m. You can use as many trains and cross as many borders of countries (for which you possess valid InterRail ONE Country Passes) as you want. ATTENTION: you will have to activate one travel day in each country.

If you travel with a Flexi Pass (XX travel days within a time frame of YY days) write down your travel days on your ticket whenever you use one. You only fix the starting date of your pass at the purchase.
